Raven Sings The Blues Presents: Day 1
Wet Tuna dives headlong into the haze, divining the murk for the moment when the mind reaches a ripple of enlightenment via aural scrub. The beat poetics and silicone seance of Tuna's humid hybrids are sandwiched between a double dose of house party hypnotics and a dystopian shiver that rises like a siren song out of the fallout.
Prairiewolf capture the biomechanical melt of A.R. & Machines, imagining a world where Reichel had been playing Alice Coltrane covers with Bruce Langhorne. Their sophomore album expands their mix of kosmiche, ambient country, and spiritual jazz. Atop the silken slink of an Ace Tone FR-3, rocking each song with an unseen hand, the band crafts a catalog that’s caught somewhere between the moment when smoke curls around the wind and when it dissipates into the infinite.
Caught in the crossfire between psych, jam, indie, and a brew they'd come to dub kaleidoscopic slop-rock, Sloppy Heads are a long-running staple of NY underground venues. Like a WFMU house band, or an oracle of the outre, they bring together all the ley lines of Humbeads Map into a heady conglomeration that needs to be felt live in the room. Featuring Jesse Jarnow (WFMU, Heads), James McNew (Yo La Tengo), and Ariella Stok.
