Romperayo, led by drummer Pedro Ojeda, is one of the Colombian bands redefining the new Tropical sound out of Bogotá, along with Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero and Los Pirañas - and it is no coincidence that Pedro should be involved with 3 out of those 4 bands.

A virtuoso drummer and percussionist who remains firmly rooted in tropical dance rhythms, Pedro mixes sounds from both Colombian coasts with accordion and light electronic elements. In addition to Pedro, the trio will be comprised of Nicolas Eckardt (of La Sonora Mazuren) and Ivan Medellin (of Conjunto Media Luna). Their shows have universal appeal and can please dancers, musicians and fans of cumbia and champeta as well as psych.rock and experimental music enthusiasts from all the Americas.

Romperayo has been touring Europe and South America for over a decade, but this is their first U.S. tour.
Pablo Yglesias is one of the founders of Peace & Rhythm. He thrills us with his endless enthusiasm and knowledge of global funkiness.  As a writer and historian he has informed on many musical subjects from latin & funk to jazz & punk via the likes of Wax Poetics, his Rough Guides overviews and more. The author/curator of Cocinando! Fifty Years of Latin Album Cover Art (PAP), he also regularly spins vinyl as DJ Bongohead and works in the fields of art and graphic design. His compilation series The Afrosound of Colombia has helped re-launch a worldwide focus on the riches of Colombian music. Peace & Rhythm are proud to be teamed with Vampisoul Records of Madrid to continue bringing the Colombian rare-groove heat!
