Working amidst a renaissance in NYC indie rap, AKAI SOLO is both part of that wave and a man apart. The 27-year-old Brooklyn native has collaborated extensively with many of the scene’s stalwarts (including Pink Siifu, Armand Hammer, Navy Blue), but, true to his name, has always navigated his own course.
Los Angeles-based, Seattle-born drummer and producer Bobbyy returns with the announcement of his sophomore album, TACKYY, arriving October 16th via Dynamite Hill Records - founded by Pink Siifu.
Featuring contributions from artists including Salami Rose Joe Louis, Sam Gendel, AKAI SOLO, Demae, Tony Bontana, Telemakus, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Qur’an Shaheed, Astronauts, Etc., Niki Randa, and more, TACKYY is a result of a musical ecosystem cultivated through Bobbyy’s years of work with his bands sunking and High Pulp (Anti- Records). Following the success of his debut album Buckets, praised for blending Chicago house influences with experimental beat music, TACKYY marks a significant evolution, positioning Bobbyy as a key voice within Los Angeles’ thriving beat and jazz scenes.
